Responding timely and with eligible candidates to Calls for Contributions (CfCs) to second personnel to a civilian CSDP mission is a challenge that many EU Member States share. The CoE organised a workshop where participants discussed their respective systems regarding the coordination for CfCs.
The programme has been developed for international staff – for women, but also men - in civilian CSDP missions by the CoE in cooperation with the Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC) of the European External Action Service (EEAS).
The CoE seeks to contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between civilian CSDP and Justice and Home Affairs (JHA). To this end, it is conducting a series of three workshops. The second one took place on 6 December 2021.
CoE Members and preferred partners (EEAS and NATO IS) met virtually to discuss the CoE priorities and shape the work of the Centre for the coming months. CoE Director Volker Jacoby reported on the Centre’s activities in the 11 identified priorities over the last six months.
The first mentoring programme for women in CSDP Missions was completed with a closing workshop that brought together mentors and mentees to reflect on their experiences during the seven-month pilot programme.
The CoE workshop on augmenting pre-mission training brought together key stakeholders for constructive discussions regarding how to increase the number of adequately prepared new CSDP mission personnel.
The workshop provided a platform for EU Member States to exchange information and views on their respective national approaches to optimise setups for the secondment of personnel outside the public service to civilian CSDP missions.
Making civilian CSDP more joined up is one of the core aims of the commitments set in the Civilian CSDP Compact to strengthen European civilian crisis management.
The workshop took place on 4 June 2021 and brought together 47 participants from 19 EU Member States which engaged in inspiring discussions around their frameworks of secondment for civilian CSDP missions.
