Communication from the Commission on the EU Security Union Strategy

This document issued by the Commission in 2020 pictures the changing security threats and calls for an EU coordinated response. It presents 4 strategic priorities and key-actions for each of them.

The strategic priorities are: a future-proof security environment, tackling evolving threats, protecting Europeans from terrorism and organised crime and a strong European security ecosystem. The Commission reminds that these recommendations should be followed by the implementation and enforcement of existing and future legislation. Finally, it invites the European Parliament and the Council to endorse this Security Union Strategy as the basis for cooperation and joint action on security in the next five years.
