A Global Partnership, Shaping the Debate on More Effective Peace Operations

This communication strategy has been developed by the International Forum for the Challenges of Peace Operations, a global partnership of 50 stakeholders hosted by Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA). It is intended to serve as a guide and tool for Challenge Forum partners, helping them to use communication clearly and effectively, with the overall aim of helping deliver the forum’s strategy 2019-2023. It can be used as a model for the development of a communication strategy for other international organisations.

Four strategy features are outlined:

  • Establish communication objectives.
  • Identify primary, secondary and tertiary target groups.
  • Elaborate key messages (short, punchy "ready-to-use" phrases).
  • Use all communication channels (annual meeting, other events during the year, social media, website, newsletter, internal communication channels).
